At Equinox Dental Clinic, we know that each patient has different needs when it comes to dental cleaning and polishing. In general, most people would benefit from a cleaning and polishing every 6 months. However, some patients may benefit from visits every 3-4 months, while others may space their visits every 9-12 months. Our team will take the time to discuss with you the ideal frequency for your recall visits, based on your dental situation.
Fluoride
After your cleaning and polishing, you may have the opportunity to benefit from a fluoride treatment. Fluoride is a natural mineral that helps strengthen tooth enamel in weakened areas and prevents the formation of cavities. It slows down, and can even reverse, the development of dental decay by attacking the bacteria responsible for cavities. It is recommended to avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes after the fluoride treatment to allow for the remineralization of your teeth.
Oral cancer screening
